At a townhall meeting hosted by Congressman Allen West on Monday evening in Pompano Beach, the Q&A segment of the meeting featured a Koran wielding Nezar Hamze, Executive Director of the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR).  Hamze confronted Congressman West and asked him to point out where in the Koran does it give marching orders to Muslims “to carry out attacks against Americans and innocent people”.

Florida Senate President and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos expressed some tough criticism of President Obama’s newly found ‘slick’ love with Petrobras and Brazil’s offshore oil.  Haridopolos called out the President in the wake of his decision to commit $2 billion to help fund Petrobras’ oil drilling endeavor off the Brazilian coast. Senator Haridopolos is concerned that President Obama is sending the wrong message for energy independence, asserting that by“cutting down opportunities in the United States, they’re actually subsidizing foreign nations.”

The Republican Party of Florida held its quarterly meeting on Friday, an opportunity for GOP elected officials, members of the committee and candidates to hob-knob with their Republican constituents and discuss party business.  During the festivities, Senate President and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos was endorsed by former Florida Senate President and current CFO Jeff Atwater in the U.S. Senate race.  Atwater is still one of the most likable and and influential politicos in the state, and he is sure to attract campaign dollars as well as votes to the Haridopolos for Senate campaign. Haridopolos’ Republican primary opponents, Senator George LeMieux and former Houser Majority  Leader Adam Hasner were also in attendance at the meeting.

About a dozen or so individuals displayed the type of disrespect we’ve come to expect from them- heckling and barking questions at Congressman West in an attempt to disrupt the proceedings.  Several hecklers were escorted out of the building, and I took the opportunity to get them on the record as to what their motives were for disrupting the townhall.

Immediately after Florida Congressman Allen West took the stage at his Town Hall meeting on Tuesday Evening in Fort Lauderdale, several hecklers who were planted in the crowd began to jeer and interrupt his remarks, forcing West to pause several times and then continue once the crowd calmed down.  Police were ultimately forced to removed one of the hecklers from the event. When the hecklers refused to stop their harassment, West stated, “You’re not going to intimidate me.” 

Minutes later, a woman sitting behind West’s wife , who had been acting in a disruptive and combative manner by yelling at the Congressman and even harrassing his wife, was asked to leave and was escorted out of the event by Fort Lauderdale Police.  As this unidentified woman was being removed from the proceedings, she continued her tirade and used an expletive to address a police officer, which resulted in the officer arresting the woman for trespassing.

We dodged a bullet this time. Here's what might happen if we're not so lucky the next time a president whose party controls both house of Congress can't pass a budget on time:

A young lady who admits to being part of the Moveon.org effort to attend and intentionally disrupt the townhall meetings of Congressman West and other Republicans around the country.  While it should come as little surprise, it’s further proof that there is a concerted effort between these progressive organizations and the Democrat party to try to cause chaos at GOP events.

Just a few nights ago, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul stated that he did not have a problem with Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon because ‘everyone else already has one’ at the Presidential Debate in Iowa.  This assertion did not sit well with Congressman Allen West (R-FL), as he expressed his strong disagreement with Paul’s statement during a Tea Party social event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Paul’s McGovernite-inspired foreign policy signals just how disconnected he is to the reality of Iran the mortal threat it poses to the United States and the world. 

Congressman Allen West challenged the GOP  and stated that the Republican party needed to regain it’s credibility, and needed to be the party that stood for something. The 2012 Republican National Convention will be held in Tampa, Florida, and Congressman West also challenged Florida Republicans to also take a stand show the country,” how it’s gonna be done”, when laying out the game plan for restoring the republic and recommitting to Conservative principles and values.

West addressed Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s remark that both Bush and ‘Democracy’ were to blame for Hamas’ rise to power. West explained Hamas’ origin of existence, before stating that Wasserman’s remark had “no grounding in truth or fact, just political rhetoric.”

During a President’s Day speech Congressman Allen West started his address off with a little humor at the expense of our friends over at Think Progress and Huffington Post.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan: "We can no longer let politicians in Washington deny the danger to Medicare - the danger is all too real, and the health of our nation's seniors is far too important. We have to save Medicare to avoid disruptions in benefits for current seniors, and to strengthen the program for future generations. House Republicans have put forward a plan to do just that. Democratic leaders in Congress have failed to produce a plan - it has been 755 days since Senate Democrats even passed a budget. Meanwhile, the President's plan would empower a panel of 15 unelected bureaucrats to cut Medicare for current seniors, while failing to save the program for future retirees.

"This video lays out the clear choice our nation faces on Medicare: Will Medicare become a program in which a board of bureaucrats manages its bankruptcy by denying care to seniors? Or will leaders work together to save and strengthen Medicare by empowering seniors to choose health care plans that work best for them, with less support for the wealthy and more help for the poor and the sick?
