The Annihilation of American Allegiance

As a country of freemen, we must live through all time or die by suicide.” Abraham Lincoln

Are we witnessing the death of our country? Civilizations do not last forever, so perhaps it’s inevitable for ours to die as well. When you tune in, pick up, or click on the news today, it appears that we are in a state of turmoil. The media bombard the American public 24/7 with negative images and propaganda that enhances distrust in our democracy. Now, Americans overtly fight for the overthrowing of our duly elected president, having been siloed into factions of race, religion, sex/gender, and economy. The Us/Them/Destroy the Enemy mentality has been baked to perfection. The “Resistance Movement” is literally anarchy, unapologetic and sanctioned by the Democrat Party. This demolition of America will succeed if we, protectors of the Republic, sit back in silence.

I did not know how bad the state of emergency was until I participated in a WAMU community conversation about the unlawful entrant/illegal alien epidemic in Montgomery County. It was the first time I had spoken about immigration as a conservative, but it was an opportunity to convey our often disregarded point of view.

The major takeaway was simple; there are two distinct beliefs about American citizenship. As conservatives, we believe that there is such a thing, and progressives do not. There are three options: citizenship, permission, or no permission. Basic as the day is long, but those are the facts. By downplaying the illegality of unlawful entrants, the Democrat Party has destroyed American citizenship in the process. When they conflate illegal aliens with immigrants they erase our nation-state by disregarding law. Do Attorney General Brian Frosh and others intend to destroy our Republic? Because the sanctuary craze does just that.

Millions of immigrants have come to this country legally, and fight every day to become American citizens. When you become a citizen, you pledge allegiance to this country and you make a conscious decision to replace your former fidelity with the new one. As conservatives, we have been concerned about the “under God” portion of our Pledge of Allegiance, but now we see that the pledge itself is under attack.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

By pushing the “there are no illegal humans” or “global citizens” shtick, the Left annihilates the very concept of allegiance to this country. They have made America the enemy, and they use divisive name-calling to confuse American citizens into believing that it is a sin to love this country. American citizens are the strongest citizens ever created, and when we abandon our citizenship, we will obliterate the very idea of individual liberty.

I joined the GOP 18 months ago, and I cannot tell you how relieved I am that I joined when I did. Many of you have been Republicans for years or even generations. But, as a Republican, especially now, I believe that we need to defend our republic from this suicidal trajectory. We cannot apologize for the love we have for this amazing country. We must not cower when facing bullies. All we have to do is speak the truth and remain laser-focused on protecting America.

We have to constantly remind people that it is not about race or religion or gender or whatever exploitation is utilized at the time. But it is about where you pledge your allegiance. Get people to think and allow them to question why they believe what they believe. Many fellow Americans have never thought about their “why” separated from identity politics. These conversations are difficult (trust me), and it still shocks me when people literally walk away because they do not want to consider that they may be in the wrong.

This is mission critical, if saving our republic is your mission. If not, well then, there you have it.
