Edward Klein’s latest book, The Amateur, is a devastating portrait of America’s 44th president.  The author, a former foreign editor of Newsweek and editor-in-chief of The New York Times Magazine, tells the inside story of the supposedly messianic president, revealing him as a thin-skinned and arrogant figure with unrealistic dreams of grandeur, supported by a cast of leftist true-believers. The book is based on more than 200 interviews, many of them on the record. The title came from a conversation that former President Bill Clinton had with Hillary in August, 2011 at their home in Chappaqua, NY when he urged her to quit her State Department post and run against her boss, whom he described as an “amateur.”

“A devastating indictment of the lethal combination of incompetence and radicalism” —
Norman Podhoretz, author and former editor of Commentary magazine
